In June 2000, Richard, Carolyn, Jason, and Julie went on a camping trip into the White Mountains of Arizona.

Jason and Julie knew that Richard and Carolyn weren't particularly excited about sleeping on the ground, in a tent, with no hot shower, no remote for the TV, and no TV. So Julie, out of the goodness of her heart, prepared all of the meals at her home before leaving. For Richard and Carolyn, the camping trip was like going on a luxury expedition.

The food was great, the campground was nice, and it was great to get away from the 100+ degree heat in Tucson.

We went to the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, and Meteor Crater.

On the third night, we stayed at La Posada Hotel in Winslow, Arizona (the town made famous by the Eagles and Jackson Browne). The La Posada Hotel was one of the Santa Fe Railway hotels built in the 1920's, and it is being restored to its original glory.

We were then going to spend one more night camping in what turned out to be a hot, dusty, red ant- and wasp-infested campground. We packed up our things and came home to Tucson instead.
