Technical Notes:

Most of the pictures were taken with my LG G4 smartphone, the one that stopped working when we were in Seville, Spain in 2017.  I’ve been so happy with the quality of the pictures from smartphone cameras that I no longer carry a camera.  I’m currently using a Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone.

Smartphone cameras struggle a bit in lowlight situations, and that can sometimes cause a slight distortion of the image.  But I am extremely happy with the overall picture quality produced by smartphone cameras.

South America Cruise

~~~ 2017 ~~~
Rounding Cape Horn
On January 18, 2017, Richard and Carolyn went on a 14-day cruise around South America.  We embarked onto the Crown Princess in Valparaíso, Chile, and we disembarked 14 days later on February 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
We flew into Santiago, Chile 3 days before the cruise and spent 3 nights in a condo that had A/C, which was very good because the temperatures were in the 90’s.  Because of the high temperatures, we didn’t do as much walking as we would have liked.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of the penguins, colorful towns, and the shipboard desserts.
Because there are so many pictures, I have created 3 albums that you may view at your leisure … or ignore at your leisure.
If you would like to hear music while looking at the pictures, turn on your speakers and click the ‘Play’ button below.
The music is Musica Chilena Folklorica.
CLICK for Beginning of Trip à leaving Magdalena Island penguins.
CLICK for Cape Horn à Falkland Islands.
CLICK for Montevideo and Buenos Aires à End of Trip.
I have also uploaded a 1-minute video of penguin antics.  The quality is not great because the 40-50 MPH wind made picture-taking difficult.
1.   Click on the following link, which will take you to YouTube.
2.   Expand the YouTube video screen to Full Screen.
3.   Adjust the Quality to at least 480p, or 720p if you have fast broadband.
CLICK for penguin video.  Note that the loud noise is caused by the fierce wind that was blowing.
When you are finished looking at the pictures, close the window.
